2002 results frozen after four years of growth

The growth rate of written premiums is faltering for the first time after four years of consecutive growth (+13.5% in 2002 against 20.6% in 2001). In 2002, the total amount of crude premiums amounted to 27.2 million USD (10 million for accident risk, and 8.5 million for motor insurance) The three market leaders, AIG Uganda Ltd., United Insurance and Jubilee, have acquired respectively 22%, 16% and 14% of that amount. 18 insurance companies and 26 brokers operated on the market in 2002.
