Allianz has earmarked 3.2 billion USD for acquisitions

Oliver Bäte, chief executive officer of Allianz, has stated that his group now has 3.2 billion USD dedicated to acquisitions. The insurer has ambitions essentially in Italy, France and Australia. Talks were started in December with Generali for the takeover of its French subsidiary. Allianz seems to be particularly tempted to acquire a competitor in non life insurance, credit insurance and asset management.

The German giant has to decide between acquisition or takeover bid. Some analysts have estimated that this fund should be returned to the shareholders to be used to promote organic growth.
