An accident at the port of Genoa

The owner of Jolly Nero, a container ship which caused the collapse of the control tower of the port of Genoa, has accused the two tugboats towing the ship to be responsible for the accident. The boat which was back-maneuvering, assisted by two tugboats could not engage the forward gear due to blocked engine. It struck the wharf causing the fall of the 50 meter high control tower.
Nine people died in the accident. The ship's captain and a pilot from the port authorities have been tried for manslaughter. Other persons might meet the same fate.
