Aviation Insurance, loss experience remains above average

Despite a growing number of passengers and higher investment in airlines' fleets, insurance premiums have increased by only 4% in 2010 while loss experience remains above average. The latter reached 2.1 billion USD in 2010 with six losses over 100 million USD.

This is twice as much as a standard year. The 2010 air disasters have also claimed the lives of 601 people. African claims account for 409 million USD in 2010, while their average long-term rate amounts to 95 million USD.
