Big demand for cyber risk coverage in France

According to a survey conducted by experts of ICT security and of digital technology (CESIN), 40% of French companies underwrote a cyber risk policy in 2017, a 14% increase in comparison with 2016.

Despite this relatively high underwriting rate, the market continues to ask for more. In addition to the 40% already holders of a policy, 15% of French corporate declared having initiated the underwriting procedure for a policy while 22% have exhibited their intention to protect their companies against this risk.

The upsurge in acts of cyber ransoms and the potential cost of claims are behind this wake-up call from French corporate.
Set up in July 2012, CESIN is a French association that conducts research in ICT and digital technology.
