Climate change, the cost of the risk estimated at 1 000 billion USD for the next 30 years

A study entitled “Adaptation and vulnerability to climate change: The role of the financial sector”, and conducted by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) estimated at 1000 billion USD the risks related to climate change and to its consequences for the next 30 years. This announcement came soon after the publication of the British Nicholas Stern report which estimated the cost of global warming at 5 500 billion USD for the next years, which is likely to trigger a major economic recession.
