Nigeria: Continental Re unveils winners of its first edition "Journalism Awards"

The first edition of "Journalism Awards" was held on April 21, 2016 in Mahé in the Seychelles.

Launched in 2015 by the Nigerian reinsurer Continental Re, the initiative aims to encourage journalists that promote news about insurance in Africa.
The winner of this year is Nike Popoola from the Punch newspaper (Nigeria) for her article "Battle of the wits: local, foreign firms jostle for reinsurance deals".

Other winners of this edition:

  • Evans Boah-Mensah of the Business and Financial Times (Ghana) in the category best analysis and best reviews on insurance and reinsurance industry for his article "Life insurance and risk growing through micro schemes".
  • M. Steve Mbogo (Kenya) for best feature Article on insurance and reinsurance industry for his article on microinsurance "From small acorns grow mighty oaks".
