Deadline for entry into effect of compulsory health insurance extended

Companies that have not underwritten health covers for their staff members and their relatives before June 30 will not be penalized. The Dubai supervisory authorities have granted an additional six-month period to be in compliance with the new law.

Health insurance has been rendered mandatory throughout the Emirate of Dubai. Today, more than 95% of the residents are covered. The implementation plan is now in its third phase. This last phase pertains to the integration in the program of companies employing up to 100 persons, domestic workers and relatives of staff members.
