Debate over the privatization of state-run companies

The ministry of finance has started internal consultations in preparation for the privatization of four state-run non-life insurers (New India Assurance, National Insurance, Oriental Insurance and United India). Talks are likely to result in the gradual listing of these companies in the country’s stock markets. New India, the most important of the market’s companies, will probably be the first one to be privatized.
