Declining profits for the world’s largest reinsurers

According to the broker Aon Benfield, profits and return on investment for major global reinsurers decreased in 2016.

Over capacity on the market is partly held accountable of declining results. Abundance of liquidity has been underscored by a recent survey carried out with the 23 biggest reinsurers.

Still, according to the same survey, the reinsurance market remains quite concentrated, with more than 50% of non-life reinsurance premiums in the hands of a small number of players.
