The Doing Business 2020 ranks countries according to their business environment. Indicators such as regulation, infrastructure, paperwork and cross-border trade are taken into account.

Doing Business 2020First on the podium, New Zealand is considered to be the best country to start a busines. Next in descending order are Singapore (2nd) and Hong Kong (3rd). The United States is ranked (6th), China (31st), France (32nd), and Brazil (124th).

Best African countries to start a business

The Doing Business 2020 report reveals the desire of a large number of African countries to improve their administrative procedures to facilitate business development. This is reflected in the various reforms encouraging the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Sub-Saharan Africa breaks its record for the third consecutive year with 107 legislative reforms, more than a third of which are recorded on a global level.

Best Middle Eastern countries to start a business

Ranked 3rd at the regional level, Saudi Arabia is making an excellent progress at the global level. The kingdom moves from 92nd to 62nd position, a jump of 30 places globally. At the regional level, the country wins two places.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) maintains its leadership position in the Middle East, while losing five places globally. Bahrain holds on to the second position at the regional level and moves up from 62nd to 43rd globally.

The countries at war, Iraq, Syria and Yemen, are ranked last.
