Establishment of a natural catastrophe risk management system

Like the other Maghreb countries, Algeria and Morocco, which have introduced compulsory natural catastrophe insurance schemes, Tunisia intends to legislate on this matter. The country is regularly affected by floods and remains exposed to earthquake risks.

The draft text currently under consideration targets to introduce a compulsory insurance against the occurrence of a natural event such as: earthquake, storm and wind, tsunami, flood, mudslide and landslide.

The guarantee under consideration would only cover real estate as well as industrial and commercial fittings.
