FTUSA unveils the 2016 results of the Tunisian insurance market
According to the figures published by the Tunisian federation of insurance companies (FTUSA), the Tunisian market generated a turnover of 1.857 billion TND (810.4 million USD) in 2016, up by 10.65% in comparison with the 1.678 billion TND (830 million USD) generated in 2015.
The cumulative net profit of insurance companies amounted to 133.9 million TND (58.4 million USD) against 157.9 million TND (78.1 million USD) in 2015.
Life insurance has progressed by 24.5% rising from 302.1 million TND (149.4 million USD) in 2015 to 376.2 million TND (164.2 million USD) a year later. It accounts for 20.26% of the overall underwriting volume.
In non life insurance, the motor class of business accounts for approximately 45% of the market, well ahead of miscellaneous risks (9%) and fire (6.5%) insurance.
