Italy, Generali: 2015 decreasing result, but remains below expectations

In 2015, Generali recorded a net profit of 2.03 billion EUR (2.2 billion USD), up by 21.6% from the previous year. This is slightly below the expectations of the group that targeted a figure of 2.25 billion EUR( 2.46 billion USD).

Gross written premiums increased by 4.6% to 74 billion EUR (81 billion USD). This increase is attributable to the life insurance business that has grown steadily.

The Italian insurer proposed the payment of a dividend of 0.72 ( 0.79 USD) per share, up by 20% compared to 2014.

As a reminder, the board of directors meeting on March 17, 2016, appointed Philippe Donnet as CEO of the group. He takes over, Mario Greco, who joined the Swiss rival Zurich Insurance, and before the end of his term.

P. Donnet will be assisted by Alberto Minali, promoted to general manager. Generali, employs 78 000 people and has 72 million customers in over 60 countries.
