Growing demand for actuaries in Malaysia

The Malaysian government is planning to institute private pension plans for mid 2010 as well as the introduction of a set of laws designed to govern the sector. Both moves are likely to raise demand for actuaries consistently.

Today, Malaysia has 437 actuaries, 374 of whom are foreigners. This figure shows a 228% increase in comparison with 2002. More than 80% of actuaries are currently employed in life insurance.
