Increase in insurance capacity for terrorism risks

Reinsurance capacity for terrorism and political violence risks has increased by over 220% in one year in East Africa. Demand for the coverage of these risks is growing steadily in the region. It follows the introduction of a new product by the broker Afro Asian Insurance Services.

The underwriting capacity per risk rose from 4.7 million USD to 15.2 million USD, and is poised to go up to 40 million USD for exceptional cases. These policies are placed in London with Lloyd's syndicates. AON Risk Solution considers the risk of political violence and terrorism to be maximal for almost 50% of countries in East Africa.
