Insurance fraud in the MENA region

Insurance fraud is a major scourge in the Maghreb and the Middle East. It continues to grow relentlessly with the development of the market which is currently generating nearly 20 billion USD.

The cost of fraud in all these countries is estimated between 1 billion and 2 billion USD for insurers or about 10% of the premiums collected. The crisis ongoing since 2008 has exacerbated this problem. Motor insurance is the hardest hit by this problem : fraud would account for 7% to 9% of the motor premiums volume.
