Insurers are asking for a 100% rise in motor tariffs

Amara Latrous, chairman of the Union des Assurances et Réassurance (UAR), has asked the minister of finance to review his decision to increase, within a two years' period, motor tariffs by 20%, deeming the rise inadequate. He believes that the industry needs to double its prices so that this class of business can recover its balance. Fraud and the increase in the number of claims account, to a large extent, for the imbalances sustained by the motor business.
