Kenya Re is provisioning 6.6 million USD in doubtful debts

The acquired net premiums of Kenya Re amounted to 12.7 billion KES (126.25 million USD) in 2016, an increase of 6% in comparison with 2015.

With 3.3 billion KES (32.8 million USD), net results are declining by 7.5%. This decrease is accounted for by a provision for suspicious debts worth 665 million KES (6.6 million USD).

Kenyan reinsurers had to set aside such a provision for unpaid premiums, mainly in Asian countries, Africa and the Middle East.

Kenya Re is underwriting business with 160 insurers scattered around 45 countries.
