Liberty Holdings victim of a cyber attack

According to the South African weekly The Sunday Times, Liberty Holdings has suffered a cyber attack.

The hacker, who claims to have stolen sensitive data on several of the company's insured persons is reported to have demanded a ransom. For its part, the company claims that the situation is under control, without giving further details.

Founded in 1957, Liberty Holdings is the third largest life insurer in South Africa. Present in 18 countries of the continent, it generated nearly 4 billion USD of premiums in 2016.
