MAMDA, farmers’ compensation scheme

The Mutuelle Agricole Marocaine d’Assurance (MAMDA) has started its compensation operation for the victim farmers having underwritten the climate comprehensive plan. Nearly 10 000 peasants are involved in this plan in the Souss-Massa-Drâa and Guelmin-Smara regions. The evaluation of insured losses was carried out by experts specializing in agricultural risks. This coverage has been introduced thanks to the initiative taken by the government within the framework of Morocco’s Green Plan designed to protect small farmers from climate hazards, with insurance premiums being largely subsidized by the State.
