Munich Re, expected 2012 profit amounts to 2.5 billion EUR (3.3 billion USD)

The German reinsurer Munich Re has said it is able to post 2.5 billion EUR (3.3 billion USD) of profit in 2012. This forecast is accompanied by two conditions: indemnifications comprised within the so-called “normal” bracket and the absence of serious disruptions on the financial markets. The company forecasts a net profit of approximately 2 billion EUR (2.6 billion USD) for its reinsurance activities, 400 million EUR (533 million USD) for its direct insurance operations (Ergo) and 50 to 100 million EUR (66 to 133 million USD) for its health business. In 2011, Munich Re posted a net profit of 702 million EUR (935 million USD).
