Natural disasters cost insurers 2.1 billion USD in 2015

The 2015 natural catastrophes are expected to cost 2.1 billion USD to German insurers, up by 31.25% compared to 2014. Niklas storm that affected southern Germany in late March was the most costly disaster with 750 million EUR (823 million USD) in insured losses.

For the German federation of insurance (GDV), extreme weather events are expected to grow more intense to become five times higher by 2100.
