Nearly 78% of motorists are not insured

A survey conducted on a sample of 4 900 people has found that 78% of those polled did not insure their vehicles. 37% out of the remaining 22% are not able to name their insurer. These poor figures are mainly accounted for by the weakness of companies’ distribution networks and difficulties of accessing insurance in rural areas. Most of new vehicles are now covered either upon purchase or importation. Local car production will reach a record high figure of 180 000 units per year for the next months. With the rise of Japanese car imports, expert forecast a growth of motor insurance.
