Only 25% of exporting companies are insured in Algeria

Out of the 700 exporting companies established in Algeria, only 25% are insured at the Compagnie Algérienne d’Assurances et de Garantie des Exportations, (CAGEX), Djilali Tarikat, chief executive officer of the company stated. Consequently, CAGEX is covering only 10 to 15% of the total volume of exports, excluding hydrocarbons. The price of the coverage does not exceed 1% of the value of the products exported.

In an effort to encourage exporters to underwrite this kind of insurance, the legislator is planning on improving some of the current provisions in force.
