Record figures for health insurance in 2017
According to an analysis carried out by the magazine Economic Information Daily, the turnover of health insurance is likely to exceed 500 billion CNY (71.9 billion USD) in 2017. The study relies on a growth rate of the health business that is identical to the one observed over the first eleven months of the year 2016, that is, 73%.
By November 30, 2016, the health turnover was of 384.2 billion CNY (57.6 billion USD). Ageing population and the entry of new health insurance products on the market such as dependency, critical illness or disability covers provide great growth prospects. This strong potential can only attract insurers. In 2016, the companies Ruihua Health Insurance and Fosun United Health Insurance obtained license whereas five other players on the market are already specialized in health insurance.
