Road accidents are costly for the insurance industry

Road accidents cost the Senegalese insurance market 77 billion FCFA (128.82 million USD) each year. This amount represents, according to the head of road safety, Matar Faye, nearly 1% of the GDP of the country, estimated in 2016 at 14.77 billion USD.

A road safety awareness campaign was held from April 12 to 18, 2018 in all regions of the country. The Senegalese government aims to reduce the number of road accidents by 35% by 2020.
