Sanlam Kenya, results in 2017

Sanlam Kenya, a subsidiary of the South African insurer Sanlam, achieved a turnover of 6.4 billion KES (62.57 million USD) in 2017. The non life class of business increased by 115% to settle at 2.1 billion KES (20.53 million USD) against 1 billion KES (9.78 million USD) in 2016. The life business recorded a slight decline of 2% to reach 4.3 billion KES (42.04 million USD). The company's shareholder's equity increased from 2 billion KES (19.88 million USD) in 2016 to 2.4 billion KES (23.46 billion USD) in 2017.

This information was conveyed by John Simba, president of Sanlam Kenya, at the company's annual general meeting during which he also announced the launch of a large-scale communication campaign to enhance the insurance penetration rate in Kenya.
