SCOR posts strong results in 2017

Despite a 2017 year marked by a succession of large-scale natural disasters, the SCOR group posted solid results.

Premiums written by the French reinsurer amounted to 14.789 million EUR (17.718 million USD), up by 8.6% at constant exchange rate compared to 2016 (+ 7% at current exchange rates).

Among the group divisions, premium growth is fairly balanced. In 2016, Scor Global P & C recorded an 8.8% increase of its underwritings at constant exchange rate, while Scor Global Life took advantage of the development of its Asia-Pacific operations to achieve a jump of 8.5% at constant exchange rate.

Despite a heavy charge due in particular to hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, the French group recorded a net result of 286 million EUR (343 million USD). The company's shareholder's equity amounted to 6.225 million EUR (7.458 million USD) compared to 6.695 million EUR (7.055 million USD) in 2016.

Finally, as regards its return on capital policy, SCOR proposes to provide its shareholders with identical dividend as in 2016, that is 1.65  EUR (1.97 USD) per share.
