Sompo Holdings, proposed sale of its subsidiary Sompo Canopius

The Japanese insurance group Sompo Holdings is intent on selling its British subsidiary Sompo Canopius to a consortium of private investors led by Centerbridge Partners. The transaction worth 952 million set to be finalized during the first quarter of 2018.

The London market business will not be included in the transaction. Sompo Canopius is one of the ten most active insurers dealing with Lloyd's. The company generated a turnover of 1.6 billion USD in 2016.
