S&P places four Mena zone countries under negative watch

Standard & Poor’s (S&P), had the sovereign ratings of Bahrain, Egypt, Oman and Jordan under negative watch. These countries have one-in-three chance to see their rating downgraded in two years’ time. S&P has indicated that the negative outlooks result from the political tensions undergone by these countries and that are likely to result in the regression of their economic and fiscal performances. Mid May, the agency downgrade Tunisia’s rating while keeping those of Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, Ras El Khaïmah and Saudi Arabia unchanged.
