Special Women, Aminata Cissé, general manager of Assurances Lafia

Endowed with a strong character, Aminata Cissé is a fighter whose success is not owed to anyone except herself. After studying economics in Bamako, she began two training courses at the IAA in Yaounde where she obtained in 1988 a DESS diploma (diploma of undergraduate specialized studies) in insurance.

After graduation, she joined in September 1988 Lafia, insurance company set up in 1983. Even though she had to face many difficulties, she managed to climb the ladders one by one to end up at the post of general manager on 19 October 2003.

Aminata Cisse has made Lafia her own home where she has spent nearly 30 years of her life, making her gradual ascension up to the top management. Renowned as an insurance key figure in her country, she has chaired since January 2014 Mali’s pool of public transport. She also served on the board of directors of CICA Re (Togo) and on that of SONAVIE (Senegal).

This exemplary career allowed this pioneer of the Malian insurance business to advocate strenuously the cause of women whom she asked not to be intimidated by a managerial environment dominated by men.
On 14 June 2014, Aminata Cissé received the Mali’s most dynamic female entrepreneur Award.
