Special Women, Anette Ekollo Monthe, deputy general manager of Activa Vie

Annette Ekollo Monthe is considered the first Cameroonian woman specialized in life insurance.

Holder of a Bachelor degree in private law and a post-graduate degree in insurance, she joined on 15 August 1978 the Société Camerounaise d’Assurance et de Réassurance (SOCAR), the first insurance company of the market back then.

Following a first appointment at the claim and litigation division, she was appointed head of life insurance department. A.E. Monthe settled down and never left the life class of business. At SOCAR, she benefited from an enabling environment that allowed her to sharpen her technical knowledge and develop an important life portfolio.

After the liquidation of SOCAR, she joined the newly-established ACTIVA. The ambitions of her new employers were plainly clear, «targeting the top of the table» and making ACTIVA a major player on the Cameroonian market. The challenge is about to be raised; by the end of 2013, ACTIVA was the third life insurer in Cameroon in terms of direct premiums.
