Special Women, Esther Tiako, general manager of NSIA and NSIA Vie Assurances

After obtaining her Bachelor degree in business law in 1980 in Yaounde (Cameroon), Esther Tiako flew to the French capital where she specialized in insurance.

She enriched her studies with a first diploma from Paris insurance institute and then with a DESS (Diploma of specialized studies) in insurance, from Paris I Sorbonne University.

Back in Cameroon in 1982, she began her business activity within AXA’s subsidiary in Douala. Then she began a long and steady climb that would lead her from the position of the technical and commercial officer in 1982 to that of deputy general manager in 1992.

After 25 years of loyal services, she quit AXA in July 2007 to become the leader of newly established NSIA Insurance in Cameroon. As of October 2003, she combined the duties of GM of both NSIA companies in Cameroon, that is, NSIA Assurance (non life) and NSIA Vie (life).

Endowed with a strong character, always up to her responsibilities, E. Tiako has been fully committed to her professional activities. She has advocated the modernization and consolidation of insurance markets in the sub-region. Submerged by a multitude of activities, E. Tiako nonetheless, chairs, in addition to her duties within the NSIA Group, the marine commission of the association of Cameroon’s insurance companies (ASAC) and also holds the position of vice president of FANAF.

Committed to insurance, E. Tiako is equally engaged in the social field where she presides over the AFEBIK, an association for family support.
Mother of three children, E. Tiako is fond of indoor sports, swimming and walking.
