The deregulation of the reinsurance sector

The country's big economic growth and the current deregulation of the reinsurance sector are arousing the interest of the world's business giants who are getting established on the Brazilian market. The French company SCOR has just obtained the status of non-life reinsurer while Bermudan Partner Re Ltd. has opened a representation office in Sao Paulo and submitted an application for a license. As to Swiss Re, also a candidate for license, it has set itself a two to three-year period to control 10% of the non-life reinsurance market and 20% of life reinsurance.
