The development of natural catastrophes risk insurance remains inadequate

Insurance against natural catastrophes, which is compulsory in Algeria, is hardly developed.
Insurance companies have made only a premium income of just 1.322 billion DZD (18 million USD) under this guarantee in 2010. CCR, which manages the natural catastrophes pool, received 925 million DZD (12.6 million USD) of retrocession premiums and paid international reinsurers participating in this pool a premium of 500 million DZD (6.8 million USD).
CCR has reported a turnover of 9.8 billion DZD (134 million USD) in 2010.
