The fire at Windsor Tower caused a loss of 13 million USD

On February 12, 2005 a huge fire completely ravaged the Windsor tower, a 32-storey building located in the heart of Madrid business district. The disaster, which was probably caused by a short circuit on the 21st floor, is considered as the most serious fire in the history of Madrid city.
The 25-year-old tower is currently being restored, thus unoccupied, which explained the absence of casualties. Mapfre insurer evaluated the disaster amount at 10 million euros (13 million USD).
