The introduction of compulsory health insurance boosts Emirati economy

According to a survey conducted by MENA Research Partners (MRP), the Emirati health sector is poised to undergo a 60% growth for the next five years. The market, currently accounting for 64 billion AED (17.4 billion USD) in the country’s economy, is poised to attain 103 billion AED (28 billion USD) by 2021.

The initiation of compulsory health insurance partly explains this growth. The increase of demand in medical service products, the development of medical tourism and the craze for preventive care also stand among the growth factors mentioned by the survey.
