The Moroccan insurance industry caught between digital transformation and regulatory restrictions

Moroccan insurers are keener and keener on the digital technology, with several insurance companies having developed electronic platforms and marketing innovating products on the market. These initiatives remain, however, dependent on an adapted regulatory framework.

ACAPS, the insurance regulatory entity, expressed its will to improve the legislation in force. “Insurance companies, today, more than ever, need a more appropriate regulatory framework that is able to keep up with the pace of the business which is evolving rapidly.”

The draft amendment of Book 4 of the Insurance Code, currently submitted to the General Secretariat of the Government, is poised to convey more flexibility to the innovation process.
