The State reserves the right to withdraw its guarantee from SCR

After the gradual dismantling of the 10% legal cession, the department of insurance and social security (DAPS) is exploring the possibility of removing the government’s guarantee from the national reinsurer SCR.

Two scenarios are considered: a simple or gradual withdrawal of this guarantee or its revision only. In the first case, the suspension will likely be gradual in order to maintain the rating of the company and to give it the time for the implementation of a new strategy. Previously, State guarantee was systematically renewed. DAPS, which shareholder at 96%, would like to initiate talks on this topic in 2015 when the agreement between the State and the reinsurer comes to an end. The SCR has in recent years expanded its activity to Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
