"Zemle" scheme for low-icome population

The insurers have adopted new measures designed to facilitate access to life insurance for people with low incomes.

Named “Zemle”, which in Zulu language means “to be standing on one's feet”, this scheme will appeal to a population of about 17.5 million inhabitants, mostly blacks. The first policy proposed pertains to funerals insurance.
