The amount of damages scares investors and insurers away

The cost of the damages caused by the recent trouble should amount to a total ranging between 30 billion FCFA (60.39(*) million USD) and 40 billion FCFA (80.5(*) million USD). According to the partial toll made by the Chambre Ivoirienne du Commerce et de l’Industrie (CICI), the looting and the other acts of vandalism have caused the total or partial destruction of 120 companies and the loss of 15 000 jobs. Because of this serious economic crisis, foreign investors and insurance companies are refraining from covering «Côte d’Ivoire’s risks».
