Britam plans a new phase of expansion in Africa

According to an announcement to investors made by Wairegi Benson, CEO of Britam, the group should continue its process of expansion by moving to Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania by the end of the month.

Britam is listed on the Stock Exchange of Kenya (NSE) since September 2011 and known since 2010, a significant expansion beyond its base: entry into Uganda in 2010, South Sudan in 2012 and Rwanda in late 2013. This new phase should extend the imprint of Britam on the continent to 7 countries in all.

B. Wairegi states that the low rate of insurance penetration in Africa is a "huge business opportunity" for the group.
