Covid-19: Brazil in a critical state

On Wednesday, 3 February 2021, Brazil broke a new record with 1 910 Covid-19-related deaths in 24 hours.

For a week, the situation has been worsening in this country with an average of more than 1 330 deaths per day. The intensive care bed occupancy rate has exceeded 80% in 19 states.

Epidemiologists believe that this deteriorating situation is mainly due to the loosening of the health protocol during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
