The "Drought Insurance Pilot Project" covers agricultural risks

Malawi's National Smallholder Farmers' Association and the Insurance Association of Malawi have set up the scheme, with the support of the World Bank, of a new pilot project providing risk cover in the event of drought. Nearly 900 farmers will participate in the pilot phase of the programme and, if successful, the Drought Insurance Pilot Project may be introduced in other parts of Malawi and Africa.
