Farmers have been indemnified for drought

Farmers who underwrote drought cover within the framework of the microinsurance plan could pursue their activities thanks to the intervention of their insurer. As a result to rain scarcity in course since the beginning of the year, 1 400 farmers have been compensated with 9 230 USD in September. In March, an additional 1 200 farmers had already received 3 135 USD. The number of farmers, policyholders of a drought cover totals 21 341, but was only 9 000 when the plan was first launched. Insured sums are also on the rise and so is the number of field crops covers.
