During the first quarter of 2017, Sava Re Group generated a net result of 9.189 million EUR (9.866 million USD), an increase of 29% compared with the same period of 2016. As for gross written premiums, they recorded a 4.2% rise from 153.5 million EUR (173.6 million USD) as at 31 March 2016 to 159.9 million EUR (171.7 million USD) twelve months later.
The growth of the Slovenian was mainly driven by international business with a 10.1% increase in non-life insurance and 13.9% in life. With a rate of 95.6%, the group's net combined ratio remains stable. The latter was of 95.7% during the first quarter of 2016.
It should also be noted that on May 12, 2017, Marko Jazbec took up his new duties as chairman of the board of Sava Re Group for a five-year term.
