Oct 2017 The Ugandan insurance market reported a turnover of 634.8 billion UGX (178.7 million USD)in 2016, up by 3.7% compared to 612.1 billion UGX (182.7 million USD) in 2015.
With 450.1 billion UGX (126.70 million USD)in written premiums, the non life class of business accounted for 71% of the market. Life subscriptions amounted to 132.5 billion UGX (37.3 million USD), representing 21% of the contributions recorded on the market.
The Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) totaled 52.1 billion UGX (14.7 million USD) in premiums, that is 8% of the total market volume.
