Growth of the Egyptian insurance market in 2017

According to the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), the turnover generated by all local insurers reached 23.5 billion EGP (1.3 billion USD) in the fiscal year 2016/2017 which ended on June 30, 2017. This amount is up by 30% compared with the previous year.

The non-life class of business recorded the largest growth (+ 42%) reaching 12.8 billion EGP (707.6 million USD) in premiums. With underwritings of 10.7 billion EGP (591.5 million USD), life insurance posted a more moderate increase of 29%.
