May 2007 A delegation made up of representatives of insurance companies of Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Ghana is due to visit Liberia on a mission for the appraisal of the damages caused by fifteen years of civil war in the country.
Made up of two state owned and thirteen private companies, the Liberian insurance market is faced with a series of grievances for the destruction non-covered by insurance policies, and attributed, according to the victims, to civil unrest and not to facts of war.
The African delegation is in charge of the inquiry designed to define the precise nature and the legal label of the claims.
